Nirmal Verma's translated stories chosen for award

Prabhakar Swain's translation has been chosen for Kendriya Sahitya Akademy Awards.

The Akademi's executive board selected the book for the award along with 20 other books at its meeting held yesterday, an Akademi release here said today.

It said the prize carrying an amount of Rs. 20,000 and an engraved copper plaque would be presented to Swain, an engineer by profession, at a function to be held at New Delhi in August.

Swain, the founder president of Sarala Sahitya Sansad, has written about 40 books.

His own writings included PunaschaHastina, Yada Yada Hi Dharmashya, Utkal Vyasa SaralaDas and SirVisheswaraya. He has been the recipient of several state awards.
