NAGAR NIGAM has prepared an estimate of nearly Rs 3 crore to undertake massive construction of road and lanes in the city. Presently over hundreds of roads and lanes is in a shambles in the city area.

Concerned with the poor condition of roads and lanes, the Municipal Commissioner Satya Narayan Srivastava had a round of several areas in the city and took stock of situation.
He told HT Allahabad Live on Monday that during his inspection he had found many of city roads specially in Muthiganj, Katghar, Bahadurganj, Meerganj, Loknath, Dariyabad, Rajrooppur and Preetam Nagar in worst condition. An amount of Rs 3 crore was needed to carry out the construction work on these roads. The work would be undertaken next month, said Srivastava.
The civic authorities have dug up the entire road from Indian Oil Bulk Terminal, Subedarganj, to Jhalwa for laying a new sewer line. The sewer line work which had started more than two years ago has not been completed. Ironically, the officials of several reputed companies and VIPs use the road to reach the IIIT-A for placement and other purposes.
Similarly the construction work on the Cemetery Road linking Bairahna with Yamuna Bank Road is moving at snail's pace. Only stone pebbles have been laid.
It has left the road unfit for use. Those who venture to move on this road do so at the risk of breaking their limbs.
Apart from this Nawab Yusuf Road, Shivram Das Gulati Marg and roads in Mumfordganj, Dariyabad, Transport Nagar, Rajroopur , Shivkuti, Govindpur etc are in pathetic condition.
The poor road condition not only affected business, but has very often led to traffic snarls in these localities.
The Municipal Commissioner said that the Nigam would do its best to undertake a massive road construction from October first week that would be completed before Ardha Kumbh fair in January 2007.
