Non-official panel sets agenda

AT ITS first meeting, members of the non-official committee — constituted to run affairs of the Kolar Municipality — set priorities. The committee decided that a welcome gate would be constructed at the main entry to the areas of the municipality.

Iqbal Patel, chairman of the non-official committee, chaired the meeting on Wednesday. Elections for the Kolar Municipality will be held in next six months. Till then, this committee will take decisions.

The committee members apprised themselves of information related to the funds available with the dissolved village panchayats. It was informed that the funds worth Rs 35 lakh were available with eight village panchayats in the area. The committee members also directed officials to prepare a revenue map of the Kolar Municipality. They resolved that the streetlights and the water supply would be their priorities.

Besides the members of non-official committee, SDM Mahendra Singh and Chief Municipal Officer of Kolar Municipality Ajay Kumar Shobhane were also present. Committee vice-president Jawaharilal Nath and members including BS Bajpai, Parmanand Patidar, Pawan Borana, P Ganesh and Mamta Rai, were also present.
