Appearing before Acton Magistrates Court, Udam Singh pleaded guilty to 20 counts of selling counterfeit goods at his shop in Southall Broadway.

He was sentenced to 150 hours community service and ordered to pay a 1000 pounds fine and 975 pounds costs.

More than 200 unclassified Indian porn DVDs and almost 2,000 counterfeit DVDs and CDs, believed to have a street value of approximately 5,000 pounds, were seized from Singh's shop.

The trading standards officials investigated the case against the 25-year-old trader
of the Ealing Council. The officers conducted the raids on his shop in October and November last year.

Councillor Vlod Barchuk, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, said: "We will continue to clampdown on people who sell unclassified and counterfeit music and film DVDs as part of our drive to make Ealing safer.

Southall has a large population of Indian-origin people.
