Omar Abdullah inspects restoration work at Mubarak Mandi

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inspected the restoration work being carried out at the historic Mubarak Mandi complex in Jammu today.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inspected the restoration work being carried out at the historic Mubarak Mandi complex in Jammu on Friday.

The chief minister went around the complex and visited the Darbar Hall, Grey Hall, Green Hall, museum and other areas where restoration work is in progress.

Abdullah was informed that the Centre has sanctioned Rs 4.37 crore under the major destination development scheme for the Mubarak Mandi heritage project, out of which Rs three crore have been released. The state government has released Rs 1.5 crore for the project.

Abdullah also visited the Dogra Art Museum within the complex and enquired about various antique items on display.

The chief minister said he would soon convene a meeting of the governing body of the heritage society and review all aspects in detail.

The Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society, looking after its restoration and preservation, was constituted by the government in 2002 and the chief minister is the chairman of the governing body of the society.
