A group of four robbers armed with sharp weapons stopped the truck yesterday and demanded money from the driver, assistant driver and helper and attacked them when they refused.

The assistant driver died on the spot due to profuse bleeding and the driver and his helper were later rushed to the hospital by locals, the police said.

A massive combing operation has been launched by the police in the area to trace the gang.

Assam-Agartala road is considered to be the life line of Tripura as it is the only one which connects the state to the rest of the country.
