The incident took place on April 30 when the 30-year-old woman had gone to the Dhusuri police station in Bhadrak in connection with her divorce case.

Narayan Chandra Nayak, the inspector-in-charge of the station, allegedly called her to his official residence within the premises.

When she went in, Nayak closed the door, raised the volume of the television and raped her, the woman alleged.

The victim also said that Nayak offered her Rs 20,000 not to report the matter. When she refused, he allegedly locked her inside his house.

But she managed to escape after six hours and reported the matter to Bhadrak SP Jaya Narayan Pankaj.
