Our govt's work acknowledged: PCC Chief

Ruling Congress in Pondicherry said the victory of PMK nominee M Ramadoss in the lone Lok Sabha constituency here was an acknowledgement of the achievements of the Pondicherry government.

Ruling Congress in Pondicherry on Thursday said the victory of PMK nominee M Ramadoss in the lone Lok Sabha constituency here was an acknowledgement of the achievements of the Government in the Union Territory.

In a release here, PCC President V Narayanaswamy thanked the voters of Pondicherry and also leaders of various parties in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) for their intensive and decisive functioning during the electioneering.

Former Home Minister and senior Congress leader P Kannan told reporters that the verdict was an acknowledgement on the part of the people of the leadership of AICC President Sonia Gandhi to guide the destiny of the nation by heading the incoming Government.

Stating that he had high regard and respect for outgoing Prime Minister AB Vajpayee, he said the new Government could seek the advice of Vajpayee who was a most experienced and seasoned leader.

He also said there was need to strengthen and rejuvenate the Congress in Pondicherry.
