Corporate honchos Indira Nooyi and Jamshed Irani were among those conferred the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, on the occasion of Republic Day.

Activist Ela Gandhi, classical singer Rajan Mishra, artist Ramankutty Nair, industrialists N Mahalingam and O Suzuki (of Japan), scientist Manju Sharma, and educationists Gopladas Neeraj and Geoffrey Sachs were also conferred the Padma Bhushan.

Educationist Mushirul Hasan and golfer Jeev Milkha Singh were among the 79 people conferred the Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian award.
