During the first two months (July-August) of fiscal 2004-05, overseas Pakistanis remitted $670.21 million against $588.10 million during the same period of the last fiscal year -- an increase of 13.96 percent, The News reported on Friday, quoting figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan.
The monthly average remittance during July-August was $335.11 million against $290.05 million during the same period of the last fiscal.
Among the major countries from where Pakistanis sent money home were the US ($112.51 million), the United Arab Emirates ($60.97 million), Saudi Arabia ($53.10 million), Kuwait ($16.97 million), Qatar ($8.75 million), Oman ($8.05 million).
