Partying hard, as P3P do
Delhiites, it seems, have learnt to swing in the middle of the week.
Forget the reason, Olive Bar and Kitchen in Mehrauli was rocking this Wednesday night. Either it was Manish Malhotra’s charm or AD Singh’s spell. Delhiites, it seems, have learnt to swing in the middle of the week.
It’s been a few weeks since Singh, owner of the resto-bar, hit upon the idea of The Med Mosaic Night – a theme night that blends in a mosaic of fashion, theatre, art and literature for ‘Oliviites’. The feedback? More than heartening! “This place is a slice of Mumbai in Delhi,” said Sabina Singh, AD’s better half. A designer, Sabina stocks her label, Horn OK Please, at Ogaan.
Fellow Mumbai designer Manish Malhotra is busy on a pan-Indian travel with his label. On Wednesday, he showcased 10 garments from his new line, dedicated to the Indian film industry (“I hate the term Bollywood. It’s derogatory”). He reasoned: “I love cinema. I couldn’t have thought of any other theme for the new line.” The Olive show was a preview – the line will be presented on Saturday.

Adding to the evening’s spirit were four exclusive cocktails presented by Absolut Vodka — Lights, Action, Drama and Bollywood Twist (despite Malhotra’s disdain for the term, the cocktail worked).
Spotted at the do: Natasha Nanda (sporting a turquoise top designed by Malhotra), Sunjay Kapur (minus star wife Karisma), set designer Sumant Jayakrishnan, socialite Ramona Garware, Chetan Seth with wife Manya (looking slim in jeans and poncho), designer Rohit Gandhi.
