In a message to the Pakistan team, the PCB Chairman said, "your magnificent come-from-behind-victory has given immense joy to the nation. The entire country is proud of you all and will also be right behind you for the coming one-day internationals.
"You have played this game professionally and though the odds were against you, you never lost your heart. If you continue with this commitment, dedication and hard work, I am confident that you will once again be a force to be reckoned with."
In a separate message to Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, the PCB Chairman said, "You have shown tremendous leadership qualities in this Test. The way you motivated your boys in a crunch situation, is simply exemplary. The entire nation is happy that the team is now claiming its lost glory under your leadership."
He also had words of special praise for speedster Shoaib Akhtar who plotted New Zealand's downfall with an 11-wicket match haul.
"You were simply outstanding in this Test. You have shown the world that you are a team-man and someone who wants to produce nothing but match-winning performances."
