Yawar Mir will contest from Rafiabad while Zaffar Meraj will contest from Habbakadal.

A PDP spokesman said Zafar Meraj was a noted journalist and a member of the civil society.

The spokesman also said Yawar Mir was contesting from Rafiabad in place of his father Dilawar Mir, who was recently sentenced to three years by a trial court in New Delhi in a case related to the wrongful release of Rs 30 lakh for the sale of urea to his firm by National Fertilizers Limited during1993-96.

Dilawar Mir submitted a petition in the Delhi high court against the order of trial court.

He was granted bail and his sentence was suspended till January 2, 2015.

A press release from the PDP read: "Yawar Mir is a young politician who has been involved in managing the constituency for the last three years. He has a degree in law from a leading institution in the country. He has worked with many top law firms and has, for some time, been associated with the party affairs.''

Yawar Mir, according to the release, had been a part of the youth wing of the party, and was responsible for involving the youth in party activities in the Rafiabad constituency and adjoining areas.
