SALE OF Allahabad University (AU) Post-Graduate Admission Test (PGAT)-2006 forms began amidst "teething trouble" at Pravesh Bhawan on Saturday.

Day one witnessed intermittent sale of around 1350 forms with the students being forced to wait for over four hours the time fixed for the closure of the forms sales.

The delay is being blamed on the mechanical trouble at the printing press where the forms and the information bulletins were being printed and the failure of the authorities concerned to gear up beforehand for the mega process.

Students lined up at the Pravesh Bhawan right from 8 am to 12 noon— the official time for the sale of forms. However, with the sale of hardly 350 odd forms, the Pravesh Bhawan ran out of stock and had to rush people to the printing press to get more forms while the students were kept waiting. This trend continued right through the day with many a student having to wait till 4 pm to get hold of the admission test form.

On being contacted, AU PGAT-2006 Director Prof Satyanarayan confessed to the teething problems. "The problem arose as many students reached Pravesh Bhawan after 12 noon and the printing press too developed mechanical trouble.

However, I personally apprised the students of the problem and did manage to distribute the forms to all those who came to Pravesh Bhawan," he said.

Prof Satyanarayan expressed his gratitude to the staff and students for co-operating in the face of the problems and assured that henceforth it would be a smooth sailing.

Meanwhile, AU CPIO Prof Amrendra Singh informed that the PGAT Information Bulletin has been made available at the AU's Public Information website— www.alldunivpio.org— for the benefit of the students.
