PIL challenging Manmohan Singh's appointment as PM dismissed

The Allahabad High Court dismissed a PIL challenging the appointment of Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister, terming the petition as frivolous.

The Allahabad High Court on Monday dismissed a PIL challenging the appointment of Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister, terming the petition as frivolous.

The Lucknow Bench of the Court also imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on the petitioner Major (Retd) S N Tripathi.

Pronouncing the judgement, which was reserved a long time back, a Division Bench comprising Justice S P Mehrotra and Justice Anil Kumar dismissed the petition as frivolous.

Assistant Solicitor General R P Shukla had argued that the petition was not well-founded and was filed only to gain cheap popularity.
