PLETHICO PHARMACEUTICALS Limited will soon consolidate its position in the domestic rural market with an expanded distribution network and new herbal, OTC and confectionary products.
Plethico CFO Sanjay Pai told reporters on his visit to Kalaria Formulation Unit on Dhar Road, Indore, that the company would now focus on the OTC products like foot care cream, lozenges like Actifresh and confectionary items like byte.
Sanjay Pai informed that 30 percent of the company’s turnover comes from the domestic market and 70 percent from the exports.
The company has two plants in Indore at Manglia and Kalaria. The Manglia plant that has overall 66 percent manufacturing capacity and manufactures tablets, capsules, dry syrup and dry powder injection.
According to Pai, the company will make further investments in the Research and Development wing in Manglia that consists of 10 well-trained research personnel.
The plant located at Kalaria, Dhar Road, manufactures tablets, capsules, liquid orals, small volume parenterals, ointments and creams in the pharmaceutical division. The herbal division here produces tablets, capsules, liquid orals and lozenges.
Among the nutraceuticals produced here there are powders, granules, tablets and capsules. This plant has 62 percent overall contribution to manufacturing capacity.
Lined up in the pipeline are establishment of a unit in Kenya and expanding the product range in hard-boiled confectionary, OTC and herbal segment.
Company chairman and managing director Shashikant A Patel mentioned that the herbal products bring in most of the profit for the company.
The competition with the established products in confectionary and OTC segment will be handled on the basis of effective pricing and packing, he said.
Plethico also has sports nutrition products like Coach’s Formula and Energizer. The company has more than 400 products that are exported to 45 countries including CIS, Africa, Latin America and South East Asia.
The future plans comprise foray into IPO segment and export to more CIS countries. The annual turnover of the company is Rs 225 crore with Profit After Tax (PAT) as Rs 56 crore.
