With the arrest of two terrorists, including a Municipal Councillor affiliated with the People's Democratic Party, Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have unearthed a plot of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba to assassinate former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

The plans to kill Sayeed last year before he handed over the reins of the government to coalition partner Congress came to light with the arrest of PDP councillor from Zakoora area of Srinagar Abdul Waheed Dar and his associate Wahid Ahmad Dar of Hazratbal locality, senior Superintendent of police, Srinagar, Muneer Khan told reporters in Srinagar.
