Polling to the Pampore Assembly constituency of Jammu and Kashmir began on a dull note in view of inclement weather on Wednesday.

As the rains stopped, voters started coming out to exercise their franchise. In the first two hours nearly 100 votes were polled in the 12 polling stations, official reports said.

All the 58 polling booths set up for the 51,688 voters of the constituency have been declared hyper-sensitive.

Eighteen companies and two platoons of security forces are patrolling the constituency to instill confidence among the voters.

There are nine candidates in the fray.

The bye-election was necessitated following the killing of sitting PDP MLA Abdul Aziz Mir by militants last December.
