A polling officer died of heart attack as the third phase of India's general election got under way in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

The incident occurred at a polling booth in Eluru in West Godavari district.

In the first phase of elections in the state on April 20, two polling officers had died of heart strokes.

The first phase covering 21 Lok Sabha and 147 assembly constituencies was by and large peaceful.
