Naushad Kasim was gunned down near Lawnsway Hotel in Manglore on Thursday while he was returning from a court. The assailants managed to flee after the incident. Gang wars, which were hitherto confined to Mumbai had now entered into this coastal city, Poojary told reporters here while expressing shock over the incident.

Poojary said he had received a notice from the Election Commission (EC) seeking explanation over the BJP complaint that he violated the model code of conduct addressing an election meeting in a temple.

Poojary said that he has violated any poll code and would reply to the EC either on Friday or by Saturday. “I visit temples for praying. Is there any bar from visiting temples. Why the BJP is afraid if Poojary visits temples," he asked.
