Angry at finding his name missing from the voters' list in the Gujarat assembly elections, senior VHP leader Praveen Togadia on Thursday charged Chief Election Commissioner JM Lyngdoh with hatching a "conspiracy against Hindu society by deliberately omitting names of a large number of Hindus".

Togadia, who launched an acrimonious Hindutva campaign before the polls, sought an "explanation" from Lyngdoh for the "deliberate discrepancy."

"He will have to give an explanation to the people of India," the firebrand VHP leader told PTI.

Claiming that his name is missing despite voting in last three elections, Togadia alleged "this is definitely a conspiracy against Hindu society by Lyngdoh, who has taken all care to include even displaced Muslims in the list."

Togadia, a voter from Sarkhej constituency, also claimed that names of residents of an entire housing society in his area were also missing.
