THE BHARATIYA Janata Party workers led by district president today staged a demonstration at Shikshak Park to protest price hike and increasing incidents of terrorist attacks in the country. The demonstration was staged following a decision reached at the national BJP leaders’ meeting held on Sunday night to stage a nationwide protest in order to support its MPs who were expected to raise the issue of price hike and terrorism in the Monsoon Session, which began from today.

The time for the nationwide protest was between 11.30 and 12 in the noon. In the city, the BJP workers were led by district president from North City unit Rakesh Sonker and included Cantonment MLA Satish Mahana, BJP city spokesperson Anoop Awasthi, Neeraj Dixit among others. The BJP workers and leaders blew conch shells for about half-an-hour along with ringing of bells.

After the conch shell demonstration, the leaders also addressed the gathering and lambasted the Congress-led UPA government for the unprecedented price hike affecting common people.

They said that the UPA Government, which could not provide bread for the common man, has however, left open so many opportunities that anyone could strike at will, anywhere in the country. The BJP leaders warned the UPA Government to put a check on the price hike and reply in Parliament about the same.
