Announcing this at a press meet on Monday, Pakistani information minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, "It is quite a costly price, but, in view of the interest these matches generate here, PTV has decided to acquire the rights."
The matches will be telecast live in Pakistan with the first Test commencing on Tuesday at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.
PTV managed to acquire the rights after protracted negotiations with Sony TV, which bagged the satellite TV rights from BCCI, he said.
