The association is presently listed under the Societies Act and if the permission comes through, PCA will become a non-profit company.

Confirming the news, PCA joint secretary GS Walia said, the Companies Act is more exhaustive then the Societies Act, which is what prompted the decision. "We applied for permission about a month ago and have completed formalities. There will be no change in the name of the association but it will certainly help us in running the association in a more professional manner," he said.

The process of clarifications has started and I am sure we will get the permission to convert, he said, adding that it will also streamline the financial workings of the association.

PCA is a two-decade old body, which has at its disposal a state-of-the-art cricket stadium at Mohali.
