The message is conveyed clearly that the neoteric tag loses its significance when it comes to following our age old traditions.

"I wait eagerly for the advent of Dussehra festival and still feel awe-struck by the way the artistes stage the scenes at the tableaux," said 25-year old Amit, a law student.

None could dismiss the scenario during the Ram Dal processions of different localities. The huge crowd which gathers at one place to enjoy the decoration of colourful lights in itself proves that the festival of Dussehra is the most popular one in the city.

"It gives us a break from our mundane routine. And I find it the best occasion to make my child aware about the age old traditions and their significance," said Arti, a housewife.

Ramdal committees too are contributing towards keeping alive the tradition which could not have been revived easily.

The pioneers of Ram Dals in city are Sri Mahant Baba Hathiram Pajawa Ramlila Committee, Pattharchatti Ramlila Committee, Baghambari Kshetra Sri Ramlila Committee and equally important are the ones in Katra, Bairahna and Daraganj.

The splendid Ram Barat was taken out on Monday by Pajawa Ramlila Committee.

The participants in the procession were greeted by the locals at various spots. Children participated in huge numbers in the procession.

They enacted the incidents related to Hanuman. "Children are slowly drifting away from their roots. And this festival gives them a chance to feel proud of their country's rich traditions," said Ms Kumar, a teacher.

"Evil has to meet its end and goodness triumph. What else could be the lesson that people could learn from this special occasion," said Ravi Seth, an elderly citizen.
