Law seems to be taking its course. Three years after Tehelka, the web based news portal (now newspaper) flashed the biggest expose ‘Operation Westend’ involving politicians and weapon dealers nexus in procurement of ammunitions for the armed forces, it has reasons to be happy. For the millions of Indians, who for the first time saw the president of a ruling party (Bangaru Laxman, then president of BJP) accepting bribe on camera and were wondering about his future, time appears to be catching up with him. (Bangaru Laxman)
With UPA government winding up the Phukan Commission probing the Tehelka expose, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved in and filed cases against Bangaru Laxman, Jaya Jaitley and three others on Dcember 6. As the CBI goes about its job in the Tehelka case it is also laying the ground for another bitter political battle between the NDA and the Congress-led UPA alliance.
