Review: Igor

Here’s another addition to the ongoing glut of computer-animated comedies. Although elements are ripped off from Shrek and Ratatouille, here’s a pleasant enough adventure remarkable especially for its visual dexterity, writes Rashid Irani.

Here’s another addition to the ongoing glut of computer-animated comedies. Although elements are ripped off from Shrek and Ratatouille, here’s a pleasant enough adventure remarkable especially for its visual dexterity.

Igor is a hunchback (John Cusack, extremely expressive) relegated to menial work by his evil scientist boss (voiced menacingly by John Cleese). The accidental death of the scientist gives Igor a chance to demonstrate his genius at invention.

With the help of a suicidal rabbit (dubbed in appropriately droll tones by Steve Buscemi) and a dopey sidekick (Sean Hayes), they create their own female ‘monster’. The trio even hopes to win first prize at the annual Evil Science Fair. How zany is that!

Throughout, the animation is fluid and colourful. Moreover, the film clocks in at a snappy 87 minutes.

Igor provides just about sufficient entertainment for young viewers and adults alike. Enjoy.
