More than 60 leaders of different employee organisation courted arrest in support of their demands.

A contingent of police force had been deployed in Ballabgarh where the main protest took place. Deputy commissioner of Faridabad Praveen Kumar tried to convince the employees to resume work, but his efforts went in vain.

"The employees struck work at the state level today to protest against the state government's decision to allot road permit to private players which we are opposing tooth and nail", said Subhash Lamba, general secretary of Sarva Karamchari Sangh, Haryana, adding, "the employees want that no attempt should be made to encourage private players".

Meanwhile, Roadways officials said 50% of buses could not play due to the strike.
