Whereas the allotment of tickets, whereas has led to dissidence in congress from several assembly segments, it has also divided the Patiala Royal Family.

Upset over denial of ticket for consecutive third time, Raja Malwinder Singh, younger brother of PPCC President and Maharaja Amarinder Singh has announced to contest independent against his nephew Raninder Singh, son of Captain Amarinder, who has been allotted ticket from Samana. Raja MAlwinder has openly accused his sister in law and Maharanai Preneet Kaur.

“I have no grudges with my brother. Captain Sahib is always with me and backed my candidature. It’s Preneet, who had played a dirty game and worked against me. Using her clout in centre, she favoured his son against my genuine candidature, as I working in Samana Constituency since 1977. ”, said an upset Raja Malwinder to HT.

He further told that he is not against congress, but now have decided to write to the Congress president highlighting my plight that despite working for long 35 years, the party has ignored me against my genuine application, which was backed by the PPCC. “Its Maharani, who played the spoilsport. She prefer son against my genuine working of 35 years”, he remarked.

“Now, I have decided to stand independent from Samana seat either it will be against my nephew Raninder Singh or anyone else. I deserve the ticket which they denied. Now I will contest independently, a demand of my supporters”, he added.

Ironically, Raja Malwinder Singh was a main contender for the Samana Seat, as Sitting MLA BRahm Mohindra had applied from the Patiala Rural seat.

It is well known fact that Maharani Preneet Kaur, single handedly had persured the case of allotment of ticket to her son Raninder Singh, while Captain Amarinder Singh publically was declaring that his son wont contest election. However, his name was in the list of the candidates announced by party on late Thursday night.

IN fact Maharani was worried about the political future of her son, after debacle from Bathinda Parliament Election, where Badal Bahu Harsimrat Kaur routed the Tikku bymore than one lakh votes. Even the protégés of Moti Palace, had pressurized the Preneet Kaur for securing a ticket to Tikku.
