S Arabia has record count of Indian prisoners

UAE, Bangladesh and Singapore are other nations with highest number of Indians in prison, LS was informed.

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bangladesh and Singapore top the list of countries with highest number of Indians in prison, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

Saudi jails have 1,444 Indians, UAE has 937, Bangladesh 893 and Singapore 580 while Pakistan has only 365 in its prisons, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said in reply to a question.

The United States had 199 imprisoned Indians, followed by 73 in Kuwait, 72 in Oman, 70 in Lebanon, 58 in Sri Lanka, 51 in Italy and 50 in Myanmar, he said.
