In an effort to further expand its product portfolio, Samsung on Wednesday launched next generation television—the smart TV, along with upgraded versions of its smartphones, tablet PCs, cameras, refrigerators and ACs.

A smart TV is essentially an interactive TV, which is an integrated multimedia device offering video on demand, web browsing and internet applications along with broadcast content.
“We are offering the best technology in all our products,” said J S Shin, president Samsung Electronics Southwest Asia.
With a sharper focus on offering latest technology in its products the company is eyeing the mid and premium segments across product categories that ranges from refrigerators and air conditioners to smartphones, tablet PCs and 3D televisions.
The company launched 60 products across its categories in India as it eyes a 40% jump in its sales revenue for the calendar year 2011. Samsung India’s sales for calendar year 2010 stood at $3.5 billion (R15,500 crore).
Samsung India feels televisions, refrigerators and ACs would be its major revenue drivers in the near term.
