SC orders status quo on case against Jaya

EC registers the case against Jaya for filing nomination papers for four constituencies in violation of the Representation of People's Act.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Election Commission to maintain status quo on the case registered against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for alleged electoral malpractices.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan passed the order while admitting an SLP filed by Jayalalithaa challenging the registration of case by the EC.



The EC had registered the case against Jayalalitha for allegedly filing nomination papers for four constituencies in violation of the Representation of People's Act.
