"That (captaincy) is for the selectors to decide. I have been around (as captain) for quite a long time. I have nothing to prove to anybody," Ganguly said when asked whether he feared that he might lose the captaincy due to his bad form.
Ganguly, India's most successful Test captain, said at present the issue of captaincy was not on his mind as he was focussed on spending as much time in the middle and score some runs.
"I have to score runs whether I am captain or not... that's the first and foremost thing. Captaincy is not on my mind.
"I have to spend time in the middle and get runs. I have been trying since the beginning of the series," Ganguly said.
The Indian captain, who managed just 48 runs in the three-Test series at an average of 9.6, said he was looking forward to a better performance in the one-day series and would "put his best foot forward" from the first match to be played at Kochi on April 2.
Ganguly also said coach John Wright would continue with the team till the end of the home series against Sri Lanka.
"It's for Wright to decide (whether to continue or not) after that," he added.
India would play a five match one-day series against Sri Lanka immediately after the Pakistan series, the itinerary for which would be announced on April 3.
