Their designs reflect a wide spectrum of silhouettes and style, attempting to rejuvenate ideas towards the renewal of contemporary life. The duo try to put emphasis on concrete themes and experiment with colour combinations and exotic fibres bringing in harmonious blend between the new and the old.

Their formative years were spent as an intern under the tutelage of some of the leading names from the Indian Fashion Industry which has guaranteed Shalini and Paras' practical and technical expertise. Having studied in the best designs centers like NIFT (National institute of fashion technology, New Delhi) and FIT (fashion institute of Technology new york) they form a powerful and committed duo.

The joining of two people with common vision but individual strengths complementing each other created Geisha Designs.

"There is something superficial and volatile about the seasonal and elusive whims of fashion which offends our sense of beauty". And therefore Shalini and Paras persevere to sustain a feeling of enchantment in this world of fashion that never tires, changes, never dies.

Their ultimate aim is to amaze themselves. The anticipation of discovering new possibilities becomes their greatest joy.

Theme for the collection for fall/winter 2005/06 (LIFW'05)

I will arise and go now

And go to Innisfree
With a small cabin built there, of clay and wattles made,
Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee, and live
alone in the bee-loud-glade"...W.B.Yeats

This collection draws inspiration from different countries, spanning different continents, different eras, some even pre-date the nineteenth century…New ways to control and assemble cloth and diverse solutions to both making and wearing clothes dispel the supposed simplicity of indigenous clothes. It is a fusion of clothing cultures across time and geography. The answers tailors throughout the world have come up with, are sometimes unique to their culture and sometimes shared with other cultures. The personality is country with diverse attitudes. A bold and joyous fashion theme that celebrates tradition and modern multiculturalism. Lively, nonchalant colour contrasts keep the season fluid, irresistible and stunning, encouraging creativity and experimentation with a plethora of different looks, advocating dressing-up with a strong attitude.

This collection puts together the pluralistic character of our study and travel. It celebrates the diversity and difference and honours the women, men and children who made and wore garments that are now on display in museums the world over.
