At least four paramilitary soldiers were killed and eight others wounded on Friday in a suspected suicide attack by Islamic militants in Pakistan's restive North Waziristan region, said an official.

Two suspected bombers were also killed in the attack in BakaKhel area, an official said on conditions of anonymity.
According to initial reports, the militants rammed their explosive-laden car into the vehicle carrying the paramilitary troops to Bannu district of the North-Western Frontier Province (NWFP).
The wounded have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.
A fresh wave of violence in recent weeks has struck the troubled region, which borders Afghanistan.
Runaway Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants have reportedly taken shelter here since the fall of the radical regime in Afghanistan in late 2001.
Various military operations both in South and the North Waziristan have killed hundreds of suspected local and foreign militants since early 2004.
