The distance between Rajendra Nagar terminus and Patna Sahib station is hardly 10 km. But it may cost Rs 4.37 lakh to cover that distance. Sounds impossible? But it’s a fact, which the group of 1,000 Sikhs pilgrims discovered to their dismay, on Saturday evening.

While chartering a train for their long journey, at the cost of Rs 27 lakh, the pilgrims mentioned Patna in their booking order instead of Patna Sahib. And this proved too costly for them.

The Sikhs — on a tour of all the five Takhts in the country — reached Patna Junction on Saturday afternoon after visiting Hazur Saheb, Anand Saheb and Damdama Saheb. When the chartered train arrived at Patna Junction, the railways did not allow the train to go to Patna Sahib. The train was stopped at Rajendra Nagar where the railways demanded Rs 4.37 lakh for allowing the train to proceed to Patna Sahib.
