India is surging ahead at a breathtaking speed, and it’s the tiny little dots on the road that it’s riding on. As Tata’s Nano grabbed every headline in the first half of the year, small cars became big like never before.

While the sedans and the SUVs — some real big names like the iconic Land Rover, Porsche and BMWs — made a steady progress, General Motor’s cute little Spark was one of the most looked out car for the year.

Reva, the all-electric pride of the country, is already showing signs of an answer to the ever growing pollution. It’s improved version, Maini, was launched this year.

But India trusts Maruti and the brand continued to its reap dividends by coming out with cars like Splash, A-Star and Ritz this. The auto maker also tried to cash in on the then craze of Farhan Akhtar. A much anticipated car in 2010 is the Toyota iQ. Along with it, the Renault-Bajaj snall car is the one to watch out for.
