Sonia Gandhi to be elected UPA Chairperson

A meeting of leaders from Congress, its allies is likely to be held on Wednesday to formally elect Gandhi as UPA chairperson.

A meeting of leaders from Congress, its allies and the supporting parties including the Left, is likely to be held in New Delhi on Wednesday to formally elect Gandhi, Congress sources said on Tuesday.

Gandhi, chief of the largest party in the UPA, has already been elected Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party.

The name of the UPA leader as well as the Common Minimum Programme are to be made public on May 27, the death anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru.
