Rahul Mahajan, late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan's son, who is charged with drug abuse, will be produced in a special court in New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon for the hearing of his bail application.
Rahul will be presented in the court of Swarnakanta Mehra, a special judge to try cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, at Patiala House at 2 pm.
Delhi Police officials said they would contest the bail application. If Rahul Mahajan is given bail he may try to hamper the investigations, said a police official.
Rahul is currently lodged in the Tihar Jail after being sent to judicial custody till June 22.
The bail petition was earlier scheduled for hearing in a metropolitan magistrate's court on Tuesday. Police had on Saturday moved an application in the district and sessions court for the transfer of the case to a special court after their investigation teams, that visited Mumbai and Srinagar, had gathered 'vital clues' against Rahul.
Rahul, 31, has been charged with consuming drugs at a party in the official bungalow of his late father. A close associate of Pramod Mahajan, Bibek Moitra, was also present at the party and died of suspected drug overdose on June 2. Rahul was arrested on June 5.
Meanwhile, Sahil Zarru, a Kashmiri youth charged with supplying drugs to Rahul, was sent to judicial custody till June 22 on Monday.
Senior officials said that they have also found enough evidence against Sahil and have also made important recoveries during their visit to Mumbai and Srinagar.
