A sub inspector in the West Bengal Police has been caught red-handed in a sting operation while trying to force a woman into flesh trade.

Argha Chakraborty, who is married and has a daughter, had allegedly been harassing Gargi Biswas, wife of a doctor, for several months.

He was trying to lure her into a flesh trade racket run by him and some other cops, besides promising roles in films.

Traumatised and terrified by the proposals of the cop over phone, the harassed couple requested a Bengali channel to carry out a sting operation on Chakraborty, who fell to the elaborate trap laid out for him on Thursday morning.

The harassed woman called the cop to an empty house on the outskirts of south Kolkata at Rajpur, and the cop promptly obliged.

The channel crew came to the woman's rescue as soon as he made advances. The cop started pleading for forgiveness and attempted to bribe the crew to save his face.

The woman later lodged a complaint with the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Chakraborty.

He was suspended and a criminal case was initiated against him after the telecast, the channel reported.
