The stock markets showed signs of stability at the current 11,900 level with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex gaining moderate ground on sustained FII inflows.
The Sensex opened on a promising note at 11,908.53 and improved to 11,941.25 within the first few minutes of trading, a rise of 36.55 points over Tuesday's close of 11,904.60.
The market expects to consolidate its position in the next few days before it crosses another important milestone -- the 12,000 points mark, stock brokers said.
The market witnessed increased interest in the Futures and Options in the last couple of days but the volume had remained low, they added.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have stepped up activity and their inflows have improved substantially in the last five days.
