Karunakaran was instrumental in seeing the country's first airport to be constructed on a PPP basis become a reality.

Tweeting in his blog, Tharoor said .. ' In celebrating leader's life, I call 4 Nedumbassery aiport in kochi to be renamed Karunakaran International in honour of the man who made it'.

In another tweet, he wanted the statue of Karunakaran should be set up in the assembly complex, an honour worthy of a three time chief minister.
