Tiwari for alternative methods to conserve water

Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari stressed on the need for promoting alternative resources of energy by blending traditional wisdom and new technology to conserve natural resources like water.

Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari on Friday stressed on the need for promoting alternative resources of energy by blending traditional wisdom and new technology to conserve natural resources like water.

"We have to promote alternative resources of energy for conservation of environment," he said, adding "we need cooperation of reputed scientific institutions and experts to bring in a revolution for utilising new technology for the protection and conservation of water."

Speaking at a function on the occasion of World Environment Day organized by Uttaranchal pollution control board last evening, the Chief Minister stressed on the need for handing over management of traditional water systems to local residents.

"Time has come to blend new technology with the local wisdom to get best of results,in water management," he said.

"Public opinion should be sought before making a law on constructing earthquake resistant houses as well as provision of water harvesting," he pointed.
