The Maoists were planing to unleash violence and anti-India propaganda in UP and Uttarakhand. They were in Kanpur to get seditious literature published. All the arrested belonged to Communist Party of India (Maoist). Their links with Maoists from Nepal are being probed. The arrested include Balraj alias Baccha Prasad, (51), a Central Committee and Politburo member and Chintan alias Banshi Dhar Singh, (64) from Champaran, Bihar.
