With reference to Ramachandra Guha’s article Two cheers for blasphemy (HT, June29), it must be stated that to salute or not to salute Salman Rushie and M.F. Husain is not the question.

With reference to Ramachandra Guha’s article Two cheers for blasphemy (HT, June29), it must be stated that to salute or not to salute Salman Rushie and M.F. Husain is not the question. How to redress the wrong done to them is the vital question. Shame on us that India was not only the first country to ban The Satanic Verses but is the sole secular country in the world to have done so! As a Muslim convert, I will be happy if the ban on ‘The Satanic Versus’ is lifted and Husain is assured of security to his life in India.
