Two policemen suspended for dereliction of duty

Two policemen have been suspended for alleged misuse of power and dereliction of duty in Jummu, police said on Wednesday.

Constable Manjeet Singh of Bus-stand Police Station was suspended for beating up and injuring a bus driver Vijay Kumar after an altercation last evening, they said.

A case has been registered against him and a probe ordered into the incident by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, Basant Rath, police said.

In another incident, police constable Fakir Din, a member of the flying squad, was suspended for allegedly creating nuisance at public place in a drunken state in Narwal area on Tuesday night, they said.
