UGAT passes off peacefully

A TOTAL of 15,672 students appeared in the Allahabad University (AU) Under Graduate Admission Test (UGAT)-2006 for B Sc seats, while 5742 students appeared in the test hoping to get admission in the B Com course of AU on day two of the varsity?s admission test on Friday.

A TOTAL of 15,672 students appeared in the Allahabad University (AU) Under Graduate Admission Test (UGAT)-2006 for B Sc seats, while 5742 students appeared in the test hoping to get admission in the B Com course of AU on day two of the varsity’s admission test on Friday.

No untoward incident was reported during the test.

Director UGAT-06 Prof AP Sinha said, for the B Sc, 15,672 students appeared in the admission test out of a total of 18,563 who had registered for the exam.

“Total of 2,891 students were absent. The test was conducted at 24 centres from 9 am to 11 am for 680 seats available this year,” he said.

Similarly, for the B Com, 5151 students appeared in admission test out of 5,742 who had registered for the exam. “There were a total of 591 absentees. The test was conducted at six centres from 3 pm to 5 pm for 375 seats available this year,” he said.

Prof Sinha said that eight squads of observers, each consisting at least three senior teachers, remained on their toes during the exams to ensure a free and fair test.
