“The allegation of Rajnath Singh regarding harassment of Varun is far from truth. Varun is being meted out good treatment as per the jail manual. Directives of Human Rights Commission in this regard are being followed,” state government said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

“All the facilities are being given to Varun as per the manual and as per the directions of Chief Judicial Magistrate. He has been allowed to take homemade food inside the jail,” the statement said.

“A daily health checkup of Varun is being done and as per medical reports he is fit and has not lost weight,” it said, adding that the allegation that Varun was unwell was not true.
