According to the victim, Sonu Devi, who was four-months pregnant, she suffered a miscarriage after being beaten by some men on September 12.
She alleged that Sangrampur police registered her complaint yesterday, five days after the incident, on the directions of Circle Officer Rajmani Mishra.
Accepting that Sonu has contacted her and that he directed Sangrampur police to file a case, Mishra said, he would look into the matter and "strict action would be taken against the culprits."
When contacted, Superintendent of Police (Sultanpur), Satyendravir Singh, said, "he has been apprised of the incident as also the alleged police callousness and suitable action would be taken against those found guilty."
Meanwhile, Sonu's medical checkup was still pending.
