UPTU allows 2nd round of counselling
THE UTTAR Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) has allowed second round of counselling for the reserved seats. This has been done as most colleges could not fill the reserved seats till date.
A senior professor and coordinator for counselling at Harcourt Butler Technology Institute (HBTI) Narendra Kohli said that there was no vacant seat at the institute. While the institute filled all category seats, many other government and the private colleges could not do so as yet, he added.
He said that on July 24 candidates between 1 to 30000 ranks participated at a special counseling against the reserved seats in B Tech, and they were asked to fill in their choices as per their preferences.
On Tuesday, the candidates from 30001 to 60000 ranks had to come. Out of which only 300 reported.
Professor Kohli said that the special second round counseling for the SC,ST and OBC candidates for all courses, including B Tech, B Pharma, B Arch, MBA and MCA would be done. As per the schedule, the last date for counselling was fixed as July 29.
According to HBTI professors, many seats in the reserved category will remain vacant as very a few candidates have appeared in the second round of counselling.
None of them preferred to join the private colleges. Since the seats at the good government and private institutes were filled in, they have no more options.
They should either opt for private colleges or take the entrance test next year.
According to the academic calendar, the institute would reopen from August 16, but it was expected that for placement the companies will start coming from August 1.
According dean academic affairs, all necessary arrangements were made to facilitate the companies which have proposed to hold campus interviews.
